New Delhi: Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is set to appear before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs on Monday to deliver a detailed briefing on Operation Sindoor and the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

Chaired by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, the committee is expected to examine the diplomatic, military, and regional ramifications of India's military operation.

The meeting follows a surge in cross-border hostilities sparked by the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in multiple casualties and prompted strong condemnation from New Delhi.

In response, the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor, striking terror infrastructure across the border. The retaliatory action triggered several days of military confrontation between India and Pakistan before both sides agreed to halt hostilities on May 10.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is set to brief the parliamentary panel on key issues, including the current state of diplomatic engagement with Islamabad, cross-border security challenges, and broader implications for regional stability.

Sources suggest his presentation will explore how India is recalibrating its foreign policy priorities in light of the evolving security landscape.

Misri has previously briefed lawmakers on significant foreign policy matters, including India’s shifting relations with Bangladesh and recent developments in its diplomatic ties with Canada.

The briefing carries heightened significance amid the fragile state of India-Pakistan relations, underscoring the need for both military preparedness and diplomatic prudence.

Meanwhile, the Committee on Water Resources, led by BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, is set to receive updates from government departments on key issues, including monsoon-related floods, soil erosion, riverbank protection, and transboundary rivers.
