Despite the Centre patting its back over Operation Ganga's progress, Rahul Gandhi slammed the Centre on Thursday for its apparent neglect to acknowledge that evacuation (of Indians from war-torn Ukraine) is a duty.

"Evacuation is a duty, not a favour," tweeted Mr Gandhi today.

Prior to that, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked the Air Force to bolster Operation Ganga's level of rescue services.

Amidst Russia's ongoing military operation in Ukraine, the Government is providing humanitarian assistance to Indian citizens and evacuating them from Ukraine as part of Operation Ganga.
