Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested a woman based in Bengaluru for allegedly promoting the ideology and propaganda of Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), a banned terrorist organisation.

The accused, Shama Parveen Ansari, was reportedly operating two Facebook pages and an Instagram account with over 10,000 followers, where she shared extremist and anti-India content linked to AQIS and other radical preachers. According to an official release from the ATS, Parveen is described as a “digital propagandist” who used social media platforms to amplify Islamic radical narratives.

She has been charged with circulating radical messages and promoting the concept of “Ghazwa-e-Hind,” a term associated with a call for Islamic war, mainly through Instagram.

Investigations revealed that Parveen was in continuous contact with four individuals, two from Gujarat and two from the Delhi–Noida region, who were previously arrested by the ATS last week for allegedly promoting AQIS ideology. During interrogation, Parveen reportedly admitted to her involvement in the propaganda network.

The ATS stated that substantial digital evidence has been recovered from her electronic devices, which they claim establishes her connection to the suspected extremist network.

Originally from Jharkhand, Shama Parveen Ansari has been residing in the Manoramapalya area of Bengaluru for the past five years.
