text_fieldsPrayagraj: In yet another incident of assault on peace and order, a group of people affiliated with right-wing Hindutva organisations climbed the Dargah of Salar Masood Ghazi Miyan in the Sikandra area here with saffron flags on Ram Navami. The video of the incident went viral on social media.
It is learned that a group of people suddenly climbed the Dargah’s roof with the saffron flags on Sunday afternoon. They raised slogans and waved the flags near the Dargah’s dome. The video showed three men standing near the dome with flags while scores of people stood below raising slogans.
The mob arrived at the location on bikes but left before the police arrived.
As per an NDTV report, a person named Manendra Pratap Singh led the mob. Singh described himself as a student leader of Allahabad University, former state president of Karni Sena, and a leader of BJP in his Facebook profile. Singh himself uploaded the video on Facebook and captioned it as follows: Salar Masood Ghazi was an invader, and his Dargah should be removed. The structure should not be there in the pilgrim city, and it should be demolished, he demanded.
Police informed that they are investigating the matter.
PTI reported that Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP (Ganga Nagar) Kuldeep Singh Gunawat said some miscreants waved saffron flags and raised slogans at the Dargah.
He said that departmental action was being taken against the policemen who were responsible for maintaining order on the spot.
