Hoax bomb threats at Red Fort, Jama Masjid spark security scare
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Security agencies were put on high alert Thursday morning after a bomb threat was reported at two prominent heritage sites in Delhi, Red Fort and Jama Masjid. The threat, which turned out to be a hoax, prompted an immediate response from the Delhi Fire Services and Delhi Police.
According to an official from the Delhi Fire Services, a call was received at 9:03 AM claiming that a bomb had been placed within the premises of the historic monuments. Emergency teams, including fire and bomb disposal units, were immediately dispatched to both locations to conduct thorough checks.
“We rushed one fire tender to the sites and carried out a detailed search operation. Nothing suspicious was found,” the fire official confirmed.
Delhi Police, in a formal statement, said bomb disposal squads and personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) thoroughly combed both areas. “All premises were searched, and no suspicious objects were discovered. It was confirmed to be a hoax call,” the police said.
Authorities have not yet released information about the origin of the call, but an investigation is underway to trace the caller and determine the motive behind the false alarm.
