Jammu and Kashmir : High voltage gunfights between militants and Indian army erupted at Kulgam

Officials in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district have confirmed that there has been an encounter between militants and security forces.

"Encounter has started at Hasanpora area of Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job," police said.

In response to specific information about the presence of terrorists, a joint police-security force team narrowed down the area and launched an intensive search operation.

Upon spotting the hiding militants, the security forces came under heavy fire and retaliated.
