Kozhikode: Jayanthi Rajan, who has been elected as the National Assistant Secretary of the Muslim League from Kerala, is a Dalit woman leader in the party. Jayanthi is currently the National General Secretary of the Women's League.

Jayanthi, a native of Irulam, Wayanad, is the state president of the Dalit League women's wing. She has served as a member of the Panamaram Block Panchayat, and contested in the Pulpally Grama Panchayat in the last local body election.

During the last assembly election seat-sharing discussions, there were reports in the media that the Muslim League had considered Jayanthi for contesting from the reserved constituency Chelakkara Assembly seat in Thrissur district. Currently, the League has only the Guruvayur constituency in Thrissur district.

The National Council meeting held at Abu Palace Hall on Poonamallee High Road in Chennai on Thursday elected two women to the National Committee for the first time in the history of the League. Apart from Jayanthi Rajan, Fathima Muzaffar from Tamil Nadu was also elected. Fathima Muzaffar, a member of the Tamil Nadu Waqf-Hajj Committee, is a Chennai Corporation Councilor.

Prof. K.M. Kader Mohideen will continue as National President and P.K. Kunhalikutty as General Secretary. Panakkad Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal (chairman of the National Political Affairs Committee), E.T. Muhammed Basheer MP (Organizing Secretary), Dr. M.P. Abdusamad Samdani MP (Senior Vice President), and P.V. Abdul Wahab MP (Treasurer) were also elected. K.P.A. Majeed, Munavvar Ali Shihab Thangal, and Adv. Haris Beeran also reached the national leadership.

Other office bearers: K.P.A. Majeed, former MP M. Abdul Rahman- Tamil Nadu, Siraj Ibrahim Sair- Karnataka, Dastghir Ibrahim Aga- Karnataka, S. Naim Akhtar- Bihar, Kausar Hayat Khan- U.P, K. Zainul Abidin (Vice Presidents).

Munavvar Ali Shihab Thangal, Khorrum Anis Omer- Delhi, Navas Kani MP - Tamil Nadu, Adv. Harris Beeran MP, Abdul Basith - Tamil Nadu, T.A. Ahamed Kaberr, C.K. Subair (Secretaries).
