After discussions, the Bhagavad Gita will be integrated into school education, said Basavaraj Bommai, Chief Minister of Karnataka.

BJP-led Gujarat announced on Thursday that the Bhagavad Gita will be part of the school curriculum for grades 6 to 12 in the state from 2022-2023.

In response to a question about the government considering introducing Bhagavad Gita in school education, Bommai said, "It has been done in Gujarat, the minister said he would discuss it. We will see what the department has to say."

The minister said the intention is to provide education and moral values to children, but more details can be revealed only after further talks.

Upon being asked whether Bhagavad Gita will bring moral values to children, the Chief Minister replied, "If not Bhagavad Gita, what else will?".

As part of moral science education, Karnataka will consult with educationists before taking a decision in this regard following Gujarat's decision.
