Kerala cannot accept Centre's educational policy: Pinarayi Vijayan
text_fieldsKozhikode: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the state cannot accept the new education policy of the BJP-led central government. On the one hand, the Centre is trying to saffronize the education sector, and on the other, it is trying to destroy the country's democratic system, Vijayan slammed.
He said that the Centre is rewriting the history as well as school lessons about India’s freedom struggle, working at the behest of the RSS. The freedom struggle was a great movement where a range of currents flowed, but RSS is an organization which couldn’t blend into this current, and they did not play any role in the freedom struggle, the Kerala CM said.
Many of the RSS members had written apologies under the pressure of the British government to avoid imprisonment like VD Savarkar, who had written such a letter, Vijayan said. If these records are left in the light, it could affect the BJP, and that is why the saffron party is trying to rewrite history and change its school syllabuses. However, the government in Kerala has announced that it is not ready to change the children’s syllabus but decided to include the omitted syllabus separately, the Kerala CM said.
He then alleged that the Center is trying to take revenge on Kerala for not adhering to BJP’s history-rewriting policy.
According to Vijayan, before 2016, five lakh children had dropped out of public schools. When infrastructure and academic excellence came together in his party’s rule, 15 lakh new students were enrolled, he claimed. He added that the number of foreign students coming to study here is increasing due to the increase in excellence in higher education in the state.
Further, Vijayan commented on conflicts in the Middle East that the Zionists in Israel and the RSS are twin brothers, and that is why the RSS is declaring support for Israel’s terrorist activities.
Despite the fact that the vast majority of countries condemned the Israeli attack on Palestine, India could not stand with them, he reminded. It could not even condemn the attack on Iran in violation of all international norms. The CM warned that this stance of bowing to American pressure is undermining the country's anti-imperialist face.
