Lucknow: In a dramatic turn of events in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow, a substantial sinkhole emerged on a road after persistent heavy rain.

Disturbing visuals captured the moment a car precariously dangled on the brink of the colossal pothole, which had formed due to a portion of the road collapsing. Onlookers gathered in the Vikas Nagar area, recording the scene on their mobile phones.

Roshan Jacob, the Lucknow divisional commissioner, has urgently requested a report from the Public Works Department within 24 hours to assess the situation. Immediate directives have also been issued for the prompt repair of the damaged road.

Today, heavy rain and hailstorms struck various parts of Uttar Pradesh, leading to four fatalities in separate incidents caused by lightning strikes.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed district magistrates to swiftly provide permissible financial assistance to those affected, encompassing cases of livestock loss and property damage due to lightning, hailstorms, heavy rain, and storms.
