Mathura: Uttar Pradesh Police arrested 19 people Sunday for blocking the Delhi-Agra highway and hurling stones at officers during protests over cow vigilante Chandrashekhar's ("Farsa Wale Baba") death.

Protesters alleged cattle smugglers killed Chandrashekhar; police said dense fog caused a road accident and killed him. Between 3-4 am Saturday in Kosi station area, Chandrashekhar stopped a vehicle suspecting cattle transport and was hit by a trailing truck. A case is filed against the driver.

On Saturday Thousands gathered on national highway, stalling traffic for kilometers amid President Droupadi Murmu's nearby Govardhan visit. Violence injured several police, damaged an outpost and vehicles. Tear gas shells were fired to disperse the crowd, DIG Shailesh Pandey said.

An FIR targets Ghaziabad history-sheeter Daksh Chaudhary and associates under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for vandalism and looting.
