Mewat Vision Academic City inauguration on Saturday

New Delhi: When the ‘Vision Academic City’ in Mewat, Haryana will be dedicated to the nation on Saturday, it will be, more than anything else, the realisation of the dream of Prof. K.A. Siddique Hasan, who gave birth to the ‘Vision’ projects that have spread across the country.

The new ‘Centre of Excellence’ is being inaugurated in Mewat under the leadership of Gulfar Muhammad Ali, a prominent industrialist who worked with the late Siddique Hasan to make the project a reality, and of Ret. IPS Officer Mansoor Ahmed.

Prof. Siddique Hasan, who died in April 2021 after battling illness during the last few years of his life, launched the initial work of the project in 2008 based on the decision that the campus should be located in Mewat, which is educationally backward. The centre is just one of the many parts of the country where educational facilities were either being newly set up or enhanced to benefit the marginalised sections.

The very concept of the Vision projects was based on the Sachar Committee report which drew a true picture of the educational backwardness of the marginalised communities especially Muslims in most states of northern, western and eastern India. But it was Mewat, which is less than 100 km away from the national capital, that Siddique Hasan chose as a pivotal point for such an educational project.

The whole project of Vision 2016, later relaunched as Vision 2026 based on the realisation that the upliftment and empowerment of a society should start with improving educational level of those lag behind in most spheres.

The inaugural functuion on Saturday will be attended by Nuh MLA Chaudhry Aftab Ahmed, Ferozepur Jhirka MLA Engr. Mamman Khan, Ret. IAS officers Siraj Hussain, Maqbool Ahmed Anarwala, Professor Sara Begum (Jamia Millia Islamia), Prof. Khwaja M. Rafi (Director Mewat Engineering College), Dr. Aijaz Ahmed (Principal, Yasin Meo Degree College), Nuh District Education Officer Sagir Ahmed, educationist S. Aminul Hasan and Rishin Rasheed.
