Polls: Prashant Bhushan slams Modi’s Rs 7.5k offer for Bihar women
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Known Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan teased Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his recent announcement in Bihar that the BJP will give women in the state 7,500 rupees every month. The lawyer criticised Modi for announcing freebies during elections in the state.
He said that the one who said before that he won’t give freebies to people is now offering the 10,000 crore to people from taxpayers’ money.
He reminded that Modi himself had said before that hypocrisy also has its limits.
““I will not give freebies”, says the man who just announced that he will give 10,000 Cr of our taxpayer money to Bihar to distribute cash of 7,500 each to women in Bihar just before Bihar elections!” Prashant Bhushan wrote on X.

He shared a video of Modi where the PM claims he is not giving freebies.
The opposition has alleged that the central government, which launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana’ in Bihar ahead of the assembly elections, is using it as an election gimmick.
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra noted, "The elections are approaching, and we are hardly one month away. They announced they will give you Rs 10,000 each,” NDTV quoted.
She then wondered, “Who has been in government for the last 20 years? Why didn't they give you Rs 10,000 for the last 20 years? They did not tell you that you will receive this amount every month. They did not tell you that this amount will become your worth.”
The opposition's criticism comes after Narendra Modi inaugurated a scheme to provide Rs 10,000 to 75 lakh women in the state through video conferencing. Modi claimed that 75 lakh women in the state had joined the initiative and that they would receive more financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh in subsequent phases.
