New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of having “completely destroyed” India’s education system, saying the government could not run a single examination properly while claiming to be a “vishwaguru”.

Gandhi’s remarks followed delays at some centres in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) 2026 after a technical glitch, as reported by the National Testing Agency.

In a post on X in Hindi, he cited recent problems with NEET, CBSE and SSC examinations and said: “NEET, CBSE, SSC, and today, CUET. Four examinations. One crore students. Not a single one could be conducted honestly.” He added: “Claims of being a ‘vishwaguru’, but are unable to conduct even a single examination within the country — Modi Ji has completely destroyed the entire education system.”

The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha warned: “The very generation whose future you are ruining — that same generation will hold you accountable.” Gandhi has previously criticised the prime minister’s silence over the CBSE controversy and questioned the government’s response to alleged irregularities, saying it prioritises political survival over students’ futures. He also shared a video of earlier interactions with NEET candidates who had raised concerns following a paper leak.
