Jaipur: Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari boarded a train from Jaipur to Ajmer on Sunday in a show of support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for reduced fuel consumption amid the global energy crisis stemming from the West Asia conflict.

Kumari spent the journey interacting with fellow passengers and posted on X that she had embraced the Prime Minister’s “Rashtra Pratham” (Nation First) call. “Embracing the inspiring call of the successful Prime Minister Narendra Modi for 'Rashtra Pratham', today I travelled by Indian Railways to Ajmer and engaged in heartfelt conversations with fellow passengers to understand their thoughts and experiences,” she wrote.

The deputy chief minister urged citizens to make public transport a mass movement to further energy conservation, environmental protection and economic resilience. “The growing trust in public transport provides new momentum to the country towards economic strength, energy conservation, and a clean environment,” she said.

Kumari added that individual efforts in nature conservation, cleanliness and sustainable development contribute to nation building and called for public participation in those efforts.

The BJP launched a nationwide campaign, ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan’, on Sunday to reinforce the Prime Minister’s appeal. The drive seeks to encourage citizens to prioritise the nation by conserving energy, opting for simpler lifestyles, postponing non essential foreign travel and supporting Swadeshi products.

Several ministers and party leaders across the country have adopted fuel saving measures, including using public transport, electric vehicles and reducing convoy sizes. NDA state governments have also reported scaled down official convoys following the Prime Minister’s call.
