RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat: Sangh avoids Hindutva politics, focuses on unity

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat declared on Sunday that the organization does not engage in Hindutva politics. Instead, it prioritizes building a robust society and nation through personal growth.

Speaking at an event celebrating the RSS's 100-year milestone, Bhagwat stressed, “The Sangh’s objective is individual development, because only strong individuals can build a strong society and nation.” He noted that outsiders often misjudge the RSS—some see it as a paramilitary group, others as a service outfit—but it truly functions as a broader social force.

Bhagwat highlighted global expectations for India to reclaim a leadership position. He urged attendees to strengthen society and the nation by participating in RSS initiatives, under the theme “Sangh Yatra – New Horizons, New Dimensions.”

True Hindus, he asserted, are those who strive to unite people. “Devotion to the motherland is essential. The world understands power more than truth; therefore, acquiring power is essential, but its use should be restrained,” he added. He described population as both a challenge and an asset.

On women's roles, Bhagwat advocated for their full independence and at least 50% involvement in national governance, beyond the proposed 33%. He called for unified policies and community efforts to protect Uttarakhand’s rivers and environment.

Addressing reservation, classification, and a uniform civil code, he emphasized authentic, harmonious societal efforts to transcend divisive thinking.
