‘Threat to state security’: J-K dismisses two more govt employees
text_fieldsSrinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha dismissed two more government employees citing ‘threat to the security of the state’.
The terminated employees are identified as Basharat Ahmad Mir, who is an assistant wireless operator with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Ishtiyak Ahmad Malik, a senior assistant in the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department.
With their dismissal, the total number of such terminations have taken to 80 under Article 311(2)(C), which allows terminations without having to conduct inquiry or seeking explanation, according to The Indian Express.
The official release by the government on Thursday claimed that Srinagar resident Mir was ‘under intelligence radar’, adding that according to ‘highly credible’ inputs from agencies ‘he was in continuous touch with Pakistan Intelligence Operatives’.
The official release accused him of sharing ‘critical and vital information to the Adversary about security installations and deployment with the enemies’.
The release further added; ‘He, being a trained police official, posted at a sensitive place, had access to the vital information concerning National Security but instead of choosing to shoulder the responsibility of a responsible police official, chose otherwise to be an active conduit playing in the hands of the adversary.’
Whereas Malik, who is a resident of Larnoo village of Kokernag, was reportedly ‘listed as an active member of the proscribed unlawful association (JeI-JK) and terror associate of proscribed terrorist organization Hizbul-Mujahideen’.
The release further accused him of being a ‘key functionary of JeI’, playing a ‘crucial role in strengthening the organization within his sphere of influence’.
‘He also facilitated creation of network of sympathizers who later became Overground workers and foot soldiers of Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit, which has been involved in series of terrorist attacks on Indian Security Forces, Politicians, Government Functionaries, Civilians, Military Establishments and Critical Infrastructure’ the release reportedly said.
