text_fieldsNew Delhi: Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA goons allegedly beat up a passenger inside a Vande Bharat train after he refused to switch seats for the MLA, reports NDTV.
The outrageous incident happened on Thursday inside the Delhi-Bhopal Vande Bharat, where BJP leader Rajeev Singh, the legislator from Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi, was travelling.
According to the report, Singh was travelling with his family but was allotted a seat in the back of the compartment while his family members got seats in the front. The passenger who attacked was sitting next to them, and he was approached to switch seats, but he refused.
This caused an escalation of the situation, and some men related to the MLA boarded the train at Jhansi station and thrashed the passenger. A video of the incident went viral on social media, in which the passenger could be seen being punched by the MLA goons while he was sitting in his seat. Some used slippers to thrash the passenger as well.
The video also shows the passenger ending up with a bleeding nose and his clothes soaking in blood.
NDTV reports that Railway Superintendent of Police (Jhansi) Vipul Kumar Srivastava has confirmed that the altercation occurred over changing seats. The official told reporters that appropriate action would be taken based on CCTV footage.
Meanwhile, Government Railway Police (GRP) in Jhansi have registered a non-cognizable report (NCR) based on MLA Singh’s complaint in which he claimed that the passenger misbehaved with him and his family.
