Lucknow: An order has been issued banning the sale of meat on the main routes leading to the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The sale of meat has been banned in places like Ram Path and Dharma Kosi Marg. Notices have been issued to vendors here in this regard. The action was taken following complaints raised in UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's Janata Darbar against meat stalls leading to the temple. Ayodhya Mayor Girish Patil Tripathi announced that there is a move to ban liquor in these places as well.

The demand to ban the sale of meat in Ayodhya has been there for long. Subsequently, a decision was taken to ban the sale of meat on Ram Path. The mayor clarified that some areas are also considering banning alcohol. Around 22 meat shops were found to be operating on Ram Path, Dharma 14 Koshi Marg, Parikarma Marg and Panchkoshi Marg leading to the Ayodhya temple. These shops have been given a seven-day deadline. Action will be taken against shopkeepers who do not clear their meat shops after seven days.
