Viral video shows rats feasting on food at IRCTC stall in MP

New Delhi: Footage showed rats scurrying around foods left uncovered at IRCTC food stall in Madhya Pradesh’s Itarsi junction railway station.
The 38-second video filmed by a passenger highlighted the shoddy and unhygienic handling of foods at railway stalls.
Sharing the video, an X user named Saurabh tagged the official accounts of IRCTC, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Ministry of Railways.
After the video went viral, Railway Seva that accounts for support to passengers said that the matter was brought to the attention of the Bhopal division.
Saurabh’s post ran with the caption: ‘Rats on IRCTC food inspection duty. The reason why I avoid eating food from railway station vendors.’
Divisional Railway Manager, Bhopal, reportedly responded to the post.
Another video went viral in October 2023 showed rats nibbling on foods inside a pantry car.
The video was filmed on the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Madgaon AC Double Decker Express running between Maharashtra and Goa.
