Bengaluru: The veteran leader and former Chief Minister of Karnataka, BS Yediyurappa, who announced his retirement from electoral politics, said he is not happy with raking up Hindu and Muslim issues for electoral gains.

The 79-year-old BJP leader, who delivered his final speech in the Legislative Assembly on Friday, also said that he is against any kind of divisive politics.

In an interview given to The News Minute, Yediyurappa said he is not interested in raising communal issues such as hijab and halal, and controversy over Tipu Sultan. He claimed he never said a word against Muslims in his long tenure.

“Hindus and Muslims must come together and work hard. I have never spoken a single word against Muslims. Everybody should come together, only then we can live happily,” Yediyurappa was quoted as saying by The News Minute.

Yediyurappa has been an MLA for almost four decades, having first been elected in 1983.
