15-yr-old girl dies, 25 injured as KSRTC bus plunges down 25-ft slope
text_fieldsKochi: A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday, when a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus lost control and went down a 25-feet slope, resulting in the death of a 15-year-old girl and leaving around 25 others injured. The incident took place in Kavalangad Panchayat, located in the Ernakulam district.
According to fire and rescue officials, the girl, who was seated inside the bus, fell in front of the vehicle after the windshield shattered upon impact. She became trapped beneath the front wheels of the bus. It took the intervention of fire and rescue personnel to free her from under the vehicle. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries.
The bus, which was carrying more than 45 passengers, was traveling from Kumily in Idukki district to Ernakulam when the accident occurred. While negotiating a bend, the rear of the bus collided with the boundary wall along the roadside, causing the vehicle to lose control and tumble down the steep incline.
Fortunately, none of the other injured passengers are reported to be in serious condition, according to officials.
