Thrissur: A suspected food poisoning incident that caused more than 80 people to seek treatment at various hospitals has now claimed the life of a woman who was undergoing treatment at Thrissur Medical College Hospital. The woman, Nusaiba, was admitted after experiencing discomfort following a meal from a restaurant called 'Zain Hotel'.

Approximately 85 people faced difficulties after having meals from the hotel. Initially, it was suspected that customers who opted for takeaway were affected, but it was later revealed that people who dined in the restaurant also experienced uneasiness. The food safety department visited and sealed the restaurant following an inspection of the site. They concluded that mayonnaise might have caused the infection more than other food items in the preliminary investigation, Mathrubhumi reported

Meanwhile, Nusaiba's other family members also sought treatment at a primary health center after falling ill from consuming the food. However, Nusaiba's condition worsened, and she succumbed to death.
