Heavy rains: IMD issues red alert in 8 Kerala dams!
text_fieldsThiruvananthapuram: A Red alert has been issued in eight dams in Kerala following the dangerous rise in water levels. The alert has been issued in dams like Moozhiyar, Ponmudi, Kallarkutty, Ittayar, Lower Periyar, Sholayar and Peringalkuthu dams in Thrissur and Banasura Sagar dam in Wayanad.
People living near the dams have been advised to be vigilant. Orange and yellow alerts have also been issued in various rivers following the rise in water levels.

PTI reported that a 78-year-old man died after an uprooted tree fell upon his house in Kerala's Kannur district, during heavy rains and gusty winds, police said on Saturday. The incident happened at 2.00 am when Chandran was sleeping inside the house in Thettummal in Koothuparamba, they said. The tree fell right on him after crashing into the house.

In various parts of Kozhikode, overnight, heavy rains and strong winds uprooted trees and damaged several houses and vehicles. They brought down power lines and posts, disrupting the electricity supply. Similar incidents were reported from the Kottayam and Kannur districts.
