Pathanamthitta: A 40-year-old man was discovered dead in a pool of blood at his relative’s house on Friday, with multiple injuries across his body, police reported.

The deceased has been identified as Jobi Alexander (40), who was found dead at a relative’s house near Vadasserikkara Pallikkamuruppu Pengattukadavu, close to Thiruvabharana Patha.

According to an officer from Ranni police station, a 55-year-old relative of the deceased is being questioned regarding the incident. Authorities noted that the victim sustained injuries all over his body, including on the head, prompting further investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

A local ward member alerted the police and the deceased’s relatives about the incident, according to an officer.

Authorities have registered a case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which prescribes punishment for murder. The investigation is currently underway.

"Several persons, including the relative, are being questioned. None is in custody yet," the officer said.

The officer also said that the victim's relative was physically disabled due to the loss of a leg, but he was able to move around properly with the use of a prosthetic, he added.
