No anti-left wave; voters only wanted Modi out: Kerala CM on polls

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that no one should come asking for his resignation, raising the Lok Sabha elections results. Kerala voters only thought of removing Modi from power. Therefore, it need not be seen as an anti-left wave. In 2004, A.K. Antony resigned as Chief Minister due to internal issues in the Congress Party. The Chief Minister told the opposition to understand the facts of what he said.

"On what logic is it to say that the state government should resign because the seats are reduced in the Lok Sabha elections? In 2004, A.K. Antony resigned as Chief Minister, not because of seat loss. Because of the organizational issues within the Congress. No need to seek the resignation of the state government citing this as an example," CM Vijayan said.

Vijayan continued that there are many people in different parts of the country who are wondering if they can still live here in the frightening atmosphere created by the BJP. It should first be understood that they have no animosity towards the Left, nor are they taking a stand here as part of the anti-leftism. They think it is better if the Congress wins the Parliament, said the CM.

However, his remarks on Tuesday contradict his statement during the election LS poll campaigns that the battle in the state is between LDF and UDF. Vijayan, who was commenting for the first time on the disastrous election results LDF confronted in the state, said that Congress need not gloat over the results.
