Thiruvananthapuram: The inquiry report that ADGP Manoj Abraham provided to the DGP stated that police failures were the reason for the turmoil during the 2024 Thrissur Pooram.

The three-tiered investigation that was launched to look into the festival disruption has produced its first report. Recommendations for future festival management improvements are included in the report.

Organising departmental meetings ahead of time to ensure better coordination and bolstering health department services on Pooram days, including the deployment of additional ambulances, are important recommendations.

Then-ADGP M R Ajith Kumar, who was also in charge of law and order during the festival, carried out the first investigation into the disruption in Pooram.

However, Ajith Kumar's involvement in the probe was heavily criticised because he was the subject of allegations. The government then declared that the DGP, the Crime Branch Chief, and the ADGP would lead a three-tiered probe.

The main emphasis of ADGP Manoj Abraham's investigation was the festival's shortcomings in interdepartmental coordination.
