Kozhikode: The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) hosted the sixth edition of its book donation programme on Friday, distributing over 17,500 books valued at Rs 1.05 crore to 35 colleges across 11 districts of Kerala. This initiative, undertaken as part of the institute’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, witnessed the participation of more than 200 students and faculty members from the beneficiary institutions.

Each participating college received nearly 500 books worth approximately Rs 3 lakh. The collection spanned a wide range of academic disciplines, including economics, management, accounting, commerce, marketing, operations research, quantitative methods, organisational behaviour, human resource management, business ethics, information technology, and literature. The books were carefully selected by IIMK’s distinguished faculty and contributed by students through a donation drive coordinated by Nalanda – The Library and Information Centre (LIC) at IIM Kozhikode.

Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director of IIM Kozhikode, who presided over the event, said the book donation programme was part of the institute’s effort to create social reputation through social relevance. He noted that the institute believes in being accountable to the communities it serves.

During the event, Prof. Chatterjee handed over sets of books to representatives of each beneficiary college in the presence of Prof. Anandakuttan Unnithan, Dean (Programmes), and Dr. Appasaheb Naikal, Librarian, IIMK.

Representing the beneficiary institutions, Princy D. Nellanat of St. Xavier’s College, Vaikom, and Jasimudeen S. of St. Stephen’s College, Uzhavoor, expressed their gratitude, calling the donation a valuable gift that would help bridge the resource gap faced by many colleges and open new avenues for academic exploration.

With this year’s contribution, IIM Kozhikode’s book donation programme has distributed over 70,000 books worth Rs 4.5 crore to educational institutions across Kerala since its inception.

Established by the Government of India in 1996, IIM Kozhikode offers a wide range of academic programmes in management education, including a Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD), Executive Postgraduate Programmes, Management Development Programmes, and Faculty Development Programmes. It also has the unique distinction of launching a PhD (Practice Track) programme for working professionals, and has introduced innovative courses such as the one-year Post Graduate Programme in Business Leadership (2019), and MBAs in Finance and in Liberal Studies & Management (2020).
