Indian Embassy in Kuwait hosts 79th Independence Day celebration
text_fieldsThe Embassy of India in Kuwait celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India on Friday, with over 3,000 members of the Indian community attending the official ceremony held at the Embassy premises.
The program began at 7:30 a.m. with floral tributes to the Shilaphalakam, a plaque honouring the sacrifices of Indian martyrs and the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Ambassador Dr. Adarsh Swaika then hoisted the National Tricolour, followed by the singing of the Indian National Anthem.
Ambassador Swaika read out the Independence Day address of the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, delivered on the eve of the occasion. The President highlighted India’s remarkable progress in socio-economic sectors over the past 78 years and urged citizens to work diligently toward the vision of a developed India by 2047.
The Ambassador also shared key points from Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Independence Day address at the Red Fort.
In his own address, Ambassador Swaika stressed that India-Kuwait relations are currently at one of their strongest phases. He attributed this progress to the outcomes of Prime Minister Modi’s historic visit to Kuwait in December 2024 and the continued support of the Kuwaiti leadership.
The Ambassador thanked community associations for their role in strengthening bilateral ties through cultural promotion and people-to-people engagement. Reassuring the Indian diaspora, he described the Embassy as a “home away from home” for Indians in Kuwait.
