Kuwait Airways adds ‘no-baggage’ economy option for light travelers
text_fieldsKuwait Airways has launched a new economy class category that allows passengers to travel without checked baggage, in a move aimed at giving fliers more flexibility.
The new “economy class without baggage” option was announced on Wednesday by airline chairperson Abdulmohsen Al-Faqaan. Under the scheme, passengers are permitted to carry a single cabin bag weighing up to seven kilograms, making it an option for those on short business trips or quick personal journeys. Boarding passes for this fare can be issued directly at self-service machines in Terminal 4.
The carrier has now divided its economy class into four categories: “Without Baggage,” which earns 50 percent mileage; “Saver,” which includes one 32-kilogram bag and 50 percent mileage; “Standard,” with two checked bags and full mileage and “Flexible,” which adds further mileage benefits.
Al-Faqaan said the move reflects Kuwait Airways’ effort to simplify passenger experiences, from entry at the terminal to check-in and onboard services. The introduction of the new category also comes as airlines in the region look to diversify fare structures and attract different segments of travelers in a competitive market.
