Kuwait, France strengthen ties during Amir’s official visit to Paris
text_fieldsHis Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, joined French President Emmanuel Macron to attend the Bastille Day military parade in Paris on Monday. The event marked France’s National Day and 80 years since World War II. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto were also present, along with senior French officials.
HH the Amir was officially received at the Élysée Palace by President Macron. He met with top French government officials and held talks with the French president. The discussions focused on the strong ties between Kuwait and France and ways to strengthen cooperation. The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and international developments.
A lunch banquet was held at the palace in honor of HH the Amir’s visit.
During the visit, Kuwait and France signed two declarations of intent. The first focuses on a strategic investment partnership for the years 2025 to 2035. The second aims to boost cultural cooperation and prepare for the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2026. The agreements were signed by Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya and French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot.
HH the Amir and his delegation left France later on Monday. They were seen off by French and Kuwaiti officials.
Earlier, HH the Amir sent a cable to President Macron to congratulate him and the people of France on their national day. The Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah also sent similar messages.
