Kuwait, India hold seventh round of political consultations
text_fieldsKuwait and India held the seventh round of political consultations in New Delhi on Tuesday
Kuwait’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Ambassador Sameeh Johar Hayat, met senior Indian officials at the Ministry of External Affairs headquarters. The talks followed up on the outcomes of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kuwait last December, where he met with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Hayat held discussions with Vice Minister of External Affairs Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Assistant Minister for Gulf Affairs Ausaf Sayeed Mahajan and other senior officials.
The consultations reviewed bilateral cooperation in politics, international forums and economic ties. Both sides also discussed trade, investment, and cultural collaboration. Topics included higher education, scientific research, civil aviation, oil, renewable energy, industry, Artificial Intelligence, healthcare and medical services.
Hayat said Modi’s visit strengthened the deep-rooted ties between Kuwait and India. He added that further high-level visits are planned, with a joint roadmap that includes sectoral workshops throughout the year.
He noted that the two countries share similar views on regional and international issues, particularly in supporting peaceful solutions to global conflicts.
Hayat also highlighted the role of India’s community in Kuwait, which exceeds one million people. He pointed to the contribution of Indian workers in construction and infrastructure projects, as well as the role of Indian companies.
Kuwait’s Ambassador to India Meshal Al-Shamali attended the talks along with India’s Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Adarsh Swaika. Counselor Fawaz Al-Qahtani and diplomatic attaches Sharifa Bokhudour and Altaf Danboh from Kuwait’s Embassy in New Delhi also joined the meeting.
