Kuwait summons Iranian ambassador over alleged missile, drone attacks

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry has summoned Iran’s ambassador for the second time over what it described as continued ballistic missile and drone attacks targeting Kuwaiti territory.
In a statement issued Monday, Acting Deputy Foreign Minister Aziz Al-Daihani said the attacks violate Kuwait’s sovereignty and airspace and breach the UN Charter and international law. He condemned what he called Iranian strikes on civilian facilities and infrastructure, saying attacks on populated areas constitute crimes under international humanitarian law.
Al-Daihani affirmed Kuwait’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and said the country will take necessary measures to protect its territory and residents in line with international law.
The ministry said the security of Gulf Cooperation Council states is indivisible and warned that any violation of a member state’s sovereignty threatens collective regional security. It called for an immediate halt to what it described as hostile acts.
