Oman has introduced a 10-year Golden Residency programme to attract investors and skilled workers. The move supports the country’s Vision 2040 reform goals.

The announcement came at the “Sustainable Business Environment” forum in Salalah. It was held under the patronage of Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar. Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, also attended.

The scheme lowers the minimum investment from RO250,000 to RO200,000 ($520,000). Officials said it will boost private sector growth, create jobs and encourage knowledge transfer.

Holders of the Golden Residency will receive a renewable 10-year permit. It covers spouses, children and first-degree relatives, with no age limit.

They will enjoy fast-track airport services and can hire up to three domestic workers. They may also own one property outside integrated tourism complexes.

Applicants can qualify through these sevenoptions:

  • starting companies
  • buying property
  • investing in bonds
  • equities or bank deposits
  • employing 50 Omanis
  • by nomination under the Foreign Investment Law.

Nasima bint Yahya Al Balushi, Director General of the Investors Services Centre at MoCIIP, said the scheme reflects Oman’s long-term commitment to investors.

“The Golden Residency is not merely a residence permit; it is Oman’s commitment to creating a balanced environment that combines opportunity, stability and quality of life,” she said.

She also highlighted Oman’s fourth-place ranking in the 2024 Global Quality of Life Index.

The Golden Residency programme aligns with Vision 2040’s goals to diversify the economy and boost competitiveness in the Gulf region.
