Aster DM Healthcare and DEAP Qatar (Doha Environmental Actions Project) united for a beach cleanup initiative near Fort Zubara on Friday, marking World Environment Day with purpose and impact. The volunteer-driven event resulted in the removal of 90 kilograms of waste from the shoreline, underscoring their commitment to preserving Qatar’s coastal environment.

The initiative is part of Aster’s Green Choice program, a long-term environmental stewardship campaign that fosters individual and corporate accountability for sustainability. Volunteers from multiple sectors—including Microsoft, PwC and the American School of Doha—joined hands to contribute to the effort.

“This initiative reflects our belief that building healthier communities means caring for both people and the planet,” said Kapil Chib, Chief Operating Officer of Aster DM Healthcare – Qatar.

“We are proud to collaborate with DEAP Qatar and will continue to support impactful environmental projects”.

DEAP Qatar’s Director, José Saucedo, emphasized the importance of cross-sector involvement in environmental conservation. “Involving all sectors of society is essential to inspire and empower people—especially the youth—to protect our natural environment,” he said, thanking Aster for supporting the cause.

In tandem with the beach cleanup, Aster Medical Centre – C Ring Road also launched an electronic waste collection drive to promote responsible disposal and recycling of unused electronics. The drive, taking place in Basement 2 of the facility, is part of the organization’s broader efforts to promote sustainable waste management practices.

Through these initiatives, Aster Volunteers and DEAP Qatar are reaffirming their shared vision of a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Qatar.
