India on Tuesday expressed deep concern over reports of Israeli airstrikes in Doha, Qatar, urging all sides to exercise restraint and resolve the crisis through diplomatic means.

The statement was issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) amid rising tensions in the Gulf region.

“We have seen reports about the Israeli strikes in Doha earlier today. We are deeply concerned by this development and its impact on the security situation in the region,” the MEA said in its official statement.

The strikes reportedly targeted areas in and around Qatar’s capital. Preliminary reports suggest damage to civilian infrastructure and increased security alerts across the region. However, details of casualties or the specific targets struck are still being verified.

The MEA emphasised the importance of peace and stability. “We strongly urge restraint and diplomacy, so that peace and security in the region are not endangered,” the statement added.

India’s response aligns with its long-standing approach to conflict resolution through dialogue. The country has strategic interests in West Asia, with a large Indian diaspora and close economic ties in the region.

No official statement has been issued by Qatar yet.

Meanwhile, international observers are calling for urgent steps to de-escalate the situation.

India maintains diplomatic relations with both Israel and Qatar. The MEA said it will continue to closely monitor developments and may issue further advisories as needed.
