France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday, beginning a regional tour that will also take him to Doha, Abu Dhabi and Muscat, where the visit is set to conclude on Friday.

The trip comes as the Middle East faces ongoing conflicts, regional rivalries and shifting alliances, prompting France to reassess its role in the region.

French officials say recent diplomatic contacts reflect a push to strengthen ties with Gulf countries and adjust engagement to support regional stability.

The approach aims to build a shared understanding of regional threats and develop responses in coordination with countries across the Gulf.
