text_fieldsThe Madinah Region Development Authority is taking part in the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, held in New York under the theme “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs".
The forum, which runs until July 23, serves as a platform for UN member states to evaluate their progress on the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Saudi Arabia’s delegation is headed by Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal Alibrahim.
Representing the Kingdom at the Local and Regional Governments Forum is Fahad Albulihshi, mayor of Madinah and CEO of the development authority. He is expected to highlight the city’s initiatives in aligning local policies with global sustainability targets. His speech will focus on Madinah’s contributions to localizing the SDGs, particularly through the implementation of the Quality of Life Index initiative.
The authority’s participation emphasizes the alignment between Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the global SDGs framework, showcasing Madinah’s efforts in delivering inclusive governance, improving local services, and encouraging regional investment in sustainable development.
In addition to the main forum, Albulihshi will hold bilateral meetings with leaders of local and regional governments to explore cooperation on the 2030 Agenda, with discussions centred on strengthening governance and accelerating SDG progress at the grassroots level.
