Riyadh Metro has been confirmed by Guinness World Records as the world’s longest fully driverless train network, following the certification of its 176-kilometer system. The recognition places the capital’s transport project among the most advanced urban mobility systems in operation today.

The network spans six lines and 85 stations, running on a fully automated operating model monitored from centralized control facilities. Officials say the system is designed to maintain high safety levels and consistent operational efficiency through real-time oversight and modern signaling technologies.

Riyadh’s wider public transport program, which includes buses in addition to the metro, is intended to ease congestion and support the city’s economic and urban development. Planners note that improved access to public transport is a core element of long-term goals for social mobility and environmental improvement.

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City, which oversees the project, describes the record as evidence of progress in adopting smart transport solutions and building infrastructure that aligns with Saudi Vision 2030. The commission said continued development of public transport remains central to raising quality of life in the capital.
