Saudi Arabia confirmed on Wednesday that Eid Al Fitr will be on Friday, March 20, since the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted.

The moon-sighting committee met to observe the new crescent and determined that Ramadan will complete 30 days this year before the start of the new Islamic month.

The announcement follows the established practice of marking the beginning of lunar months through verified sightings.

Earlier, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development said Eid holidays for private and non-profit sector employees would start on the evening of Wednesday, March 18, and continue for four days, in line with the Saudi Labour Law.
