The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, in cooperation with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), has launched an updated Table of Food Law Violations.

Officials said the move aims to improve food safety and raise compliance levels among food establishments.

The updated system classifies violations based on the size of the establishment and the type of economic activity. This ensures fairness in penalties and supports small and medium enterprises.

Authorities confirmed that minor violations will first receive warnings and a grace period for correction. Serious violations affecting consumer safety will lead to immediate penalties.

The new list also covers delivery personnel, food tracking, handling food poisoning cases and record keeping. Documentation and transparency are highlighted as vital for protecting both consumers and businesses.

Menus must now include strict details on salt, caffeine, and physical activity content. Officials said this measure empowers individuals to make healthier food choices.

The ministry and SFDA stressed that the updated law is built on prevention before punishment. They said food safety is a duty that cannot be compromised.

The updated Table of Violations is available on the ministry’s website at momah.gov.sa
