More than 1.2 million Umrah pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia since the beginning of the current season on Dhul Hijjah 15, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced on Thursday. The pilgrims represent 109 countries, reflecting a strong international turnout.

According to the ministry, the number of arrivals marks a 30% increase compared to the same period last year. The number of Umrah visas issued has also seen a 27% rise, supported by more than 4,200 contracts signed between local Umrah companies and international agents.

The ministry attributed the growth to early planning and coordination with relevant authorities, as well as the overall success of this year’s Hajj season. Improvements in operations, digital infrastructure and service integration were cited as key factors behind the efficient handling of pilgrim inflow.

This year’s Umrah season officially started on Dhul Hijjah 14, with permits available through the Nusuk platform, a unified digital portal for government services aimed at pilgrims. From Dhul Hijjah 15, pilgrims have been able to use the platform to book appointments and access multilingual services.

The Ministry emphasized its efforts to enhance the Umrah experience through expanded digital content, advanced hospitality standards and improved safety procedures.
