Saudi authorities pump nearly 1 million cubic meters of water for Hajj pilgrims
text_fieldsSaudi Arabia’s water authorities have supplied over 980,000 cubic meters of water to support the 1.4 million pilgrims performing Hajj.
The National Water Company confirmed that 980,633 cubic meters of water were delivered to key pilgrimage sites, including Makkah, Madinah, Mina, Mount Arafat and Muzdalifah since Wednesday. The effort is part of a continuous, round-the-clock operation managed during the Hajj season.
The Saudi Water Authority, which oversees the Kingdom’s water operations, emphasised that the seamless provision of water is critical to serving the millions who converge annually for the pilgrimage. On Thursday, the authority unveiled its end-to-end water supply strategy, beginning with seawater desalination and extending through transportation, treatment, distribution, reuse and irrigation.
At the Hajj Media Hub, located in the Makkah Chamber Exhibition and Events Center, the authority showcased “The Story of Water in Hajj” — an interactive multilingual presentation highlighting the water system’s technological backbone. The exhibit featured innovations in desalination, smart storage, advanced transport systems and sustainability-driven solutions, offering global media a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes operations.
