Crown Prince discusses regional crisis with GCC, European leaders
text_fieldsSaudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman held a flurry of diplomatic phone calls on Sunday with leaders across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Europe to discuss the rapidly deteriorating regional security situation following attacks on Iran, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Crown Prince spoke separately with King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa of Bahrain, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani of Qatar and Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait. He also received a call from UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.
The discussions centred on the ongoing Israeli strikes on Iran and a reported US attack targeting Iranian nuclear sites earlier on Sunday. SPA reported that the leaders expressed unified concern over the escalation and emphasised the importance of maintaining GCC solidarity in promoting regional stability.
All parties agreed on the necessity of de-escalation, urging restraint and emphasising the pursuit of diplomatic solutions to prevent a broader conflict.
In addition, Crown Prince Mohammed received phone calls from French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Both conversations underscored shared concern over the consequences of the US-led strikes and echoed calls for diplomatic engagement over military action.
The Kingdom reaffirmed its stance advocating restraint and peaceful resolution through dialogue.
