Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have extended their condolences to Indian President Droupadi Murmu following a devastating plane crash in the northwestern Indian city of Ahmedabad on Thursday.

An Air India flight bound for London, carrying over 240 passengers, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The aircraft exploded upon impact, striking a medical college hostel near the airport and erupting in flames.

In separate condolence messages, King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and extended heartfelt sympathies to President Murmu, the victims’ families, and the people of India. They also wished a swift recovery to those injured.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a formal statement of condolence, reiterating the Kingdom’s solidarity with India during this time of national mourning.

Indian authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
