Saudi-Maldives forum to address tourism transparency, governance
text_fieldsaudi Arabia, in collaboration with the Maldives, is set to host the inaugural Saudi-Maldives International Forum on Integrity in the tourism sector. The event, scheduled for May 6–7 in the Maldives, is being organized by Saudi Arabia’s Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority and the Maldives’ Anti-Corruption Commission, with support from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The forum will bring together representatives from over 40 countries and 10 international and regional organizations, including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Interpol and the UN Development Programme. Participants will include ministers, heads of anti-corruption agencies from OIC member states and global experts.
Key agenda items include enhancing transparency and governance in tourism, combating corruption and strengthening international cooperation. The sessions will also explore how integrity in tourism can support sustainable development and foster safe, reliable travel environments.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the initiative underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to global anti-corruption efforts and reflects the kingdom’s broader strategy to elevate the tourism sector as a central pillar of Vision 2030, aimed at diversifying the national economy and boosting long-term growth.
