Dubai airports resume full operations after Qatar reopens airspace

Dubai Airports confirmed late Monday that it has “resumed full operations” at both Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport following a temporary halt triggered by Iran’s attempted missile strike on the U.S. airbase at Al Udeid in Qatar.

The airspace closure was prompted after two waves of Iranian missiles targeted the U.S. military installation overnight.

According to a Qatari military official, 'all of the missiles were destroyed except one that fell in the base, which had been evacuated'.

Qatar moved swiftly to shut its airspace amid the assault. However, the General Authority of Civil Aviation later announced the resumption of air traffic and Qatar reopened its airspace in the early hours of Tuesday, as reported by Qatar News Agency.

In a statement issued Monday night, Dubai Airports said, “Dubai Airports has resumed full operations at its airports in the emirate following a temporary precautionary pause".

“The safety and well-being of all travellers and aviation staff remain the highest priority. While Dubai Airports is working with airlines to ensure flights operate according to schedule, some flights may experience delays or cancellations,” the statement added.

It also advised travellers to remain vigilant. "Travellers are advised to stay informed by checking regularly with their airlines for the latest updates".

The missile attack, though intercepted, caused ripple effects across Gulf airspace, disrupting travel plans and highlighting ongoing regional security concerns.
