H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum highlighted sport as a key driver of global cooperation during discussions with FIFA President Gianni Infantino on the sidelines of the World Sports Summit in Dubai.

The meeting focused on football’s ability to connect societies and strengthen ties between nations, with Sheikh Hamdan noting the sport’s reach and influence in promoting understanding and shared values across cultures.

Sheikh Hamdan said the World Sports Summit has become an important platform for shaping the future of global sport by bringing together leaders, institutions and decision makers to exchange ideas, develop talent and explore new approaches to training, governance and innovation.

He said, “Dubai’s hosting and organisation of the World Sports Summit reflects our commitment to being an active partner in shaping the future of global sport".

Infantino praised the UAE’s role in supporting sport at the international level and said Dubai’s efforts to convene global sports leaders demonstrate a clear commitment to long-term development. He said gatherings of this scale help strengthen cooperation and advance shared goals within the global sports community.

The World Sports Summit opened today with participation from 1,500 sports leaders and decision makers from more than 50 countries. The meeting was attended by senior UAE and regional leaders, ministers and officials from sports and government institutions.
