Dubai: Humanoid robot welcomes Sheikh Mohammed at Union House
text_fieldsA humanoid robot stunned dignitaries at the Union House during a meeting attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
In a video released by the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on Wednesday, Sheikh Mohammed was seen waving at the robot, which responded with a wave of its own before walking and running across the majlis. The robot demonstration was conducted by Dubai Future Labs as part of a live showcase of the Unitree G1.
The robot, designed to closely mimic human movement, is lightweight at 35kg and stands 130cm tall. It features advanced components including an 8-core CPU, 3D LiDAR, depth camera, microphone array, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and a 13-string lithium battery that powers it for up to two hours.
The Unitree G1 will soon become part of the interactive displays at the Museum of the Future, allowing visitors to witness cutting-edge robotics in action.
During the gathering at Al Mudaif Majlis, Sheikh Mohammed spoke on the UAE’s development model, emphasising its foundation on openness, competitiveness and support for entrepreneurship. He noted that the country’s progress reflects a vision grounded in long-term planning, determination and public-private cooperation.
Highlighting Dubai’s role in the national growth story, Sheikh Mohammed pointed to the emirate’s steady rise as a global economic hub. He said this progress is driven by investor confidence, mature markets and the ability to attract top talent, key elements of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
