Dubai Metro Blue Line completes 10% construction within first five months
text_fieldsDubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that construction of the AED56.5 billion Dubai Metro Blue Line has reached 10 percent completion, five months after work began in June 2025.
The 30-kilometre project includes 14 stations and will connect the Red and Green Lines, linking major residential, economic and academic zones. More than 500 engineers and 3,000 workers are active across 12 sites.
Mattar Al Tayer, RTA Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, said the project is on schedule, with 30 percent completion expected by the end of 2026 and full operations starting on 9 September 2029. The line is expected to serve one million residents by 2040 and will provide a 20-minute direct route to Dubai International Airport.
The project supports Dubai Urban Plan 2040 and the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), promoting the “20-minute city” concept and targeting a 20 percent reduction in congestion. Property values near stations are projected to rise by up to 25 percent.
Over three million work hours have been recorded with no fatalities. Construction milestones include 260 deep foundations, 400,000 cubic metres of excavation and the setup of two concrete plants in Al Ruwayyah 3 and International City.
The Emaar Station, the line’s architectural highlight, will stand 74 metres high, set to be the world’s tallest metro station, and handle up to 240,000 passengers daily by 2040.
RTA continues to coordinate with communities through consultations and public updates on construction and traffic changes.
